The model may or may not be "outdated" but it is the most efficient way to teach. The "massive" teaching methodes make sure that everyone learns the same things.

The biggest problem with the other methodes is the fact that there are to many people that need to be taught. So it is impossible to give everyone personal attention.
Therefore only rich people will be able to give their children more personal attention and thereby creating a society where poor people don't stand a chance because they cannot learn.
The 'standard learning model' creates uniformity and therefore gives everyone an equal chance to learn. If you don't want to or can't you will fall.
